One of our favourite sessions to photograph is maternity sessions, firstly as an artist we get to have a lot of creativity during these sessions and really capture the beauty we see in a pregnant lady.
A question we get asked all the time is, why get maternity images done? Our answer is simply this….. As a pregnant woman your body goes through so many changes mentally and physically,
but the biggest change has got to be your belly shape, with your new baby growing inside of you, your whole body takes a different form, with lots of new curves of beauty which simply separate’s a woman from a girl, and with a gorgeous baby bump which in a photograph they are just sublime and helps create a classy work of art.

The only time you will look like this is when you are pregnant and I know 9 months sounds like a long time but before you know it your little one will be in the world, so to capture your amazing curves and baby bump will be a great memory to treasure and can also make an amazing piece of art to add into your home.

There is nothing more beautiful than a mother’s body creating a new life, nurturing and sculpting this most precious being into a perfect little human and as a photographer its just a lovely opportunity to capture something so great and amazing, so thank you to all our pregnant customers and future maternity customers for giving us this wonderful opportunity

I recently had the privilege of photographing this absolutely beautiful baby girl named Hannah, she was oh so small weighing just 2.2 kg, she was such a delight to photograph sleeping throughout the whole session, even when moving from prop to prop! This little one truly has the sweetest little face that just made my heart melt into a million pieces! I really enjoyed the 2 hours I spent with her during her newborn session.

We also included something sentimental by including the “Hannah” photo frame. I try an incorporate something personal into every photograph.

Essentially you get 3 full sessions with me in the studio, we generally advise customers to select from 3 of the following milestones (newborn, 3 months, 6months, 9months and 1 year).

The best part is you only pay $99, for that you will get all the session plus you will get what we call a timeline folio at the end. The timeline folio is a set of images which form a collection of your babies first year (Trust me this is fabulous). Whats even better is that after every shoot you will be presented with all the images from the session and you can choose to purchase prints, frames or digital files if you want. So all in all a win/win situation.

I recently had the privilege of photographing Miracle baby Isaac for the Ttofa family. I ran this session a little different to how I used to run sessions. Primarily I included a home photography shoot as well as a studio photography session.

The reason I decided to do both was simply because I was sitting one day thinking about how fast my kids have grown up.I had been setting trying to remember the countless hours spent lying on my bed just staring at them with amazement while they sleep, staring into those big blue innocent eyes. I often remembered thinking how blessed I am and that this tiny little baby grew inside me, the many hours spent rocking them to sleep in my rocking chair singing them lullaby’s; sitting on the couch telling them all sorts of stories. All I wanted to do was freeze those moments forever and never forget how I felt at that time.

I still remember how I felt at that time but I cant remember exactly what that exact moment looked like. Memories have a tend to fade over years, and that’s were I thought it would have been great if I had someone capture those memories for me with my beautiful baby’s,  thats when the penny dropped, “the light switch went on” and I thought I could be giving that beautiful gift to my beautiful customers , mums just like me. To have and treasure for years to come and even share those memories with thier children and family members. Which unfortunately I can only try describe those time to my own children and not be able to show them actual photographs, wouldn’t that make an amazing sweet bed time story,.

I decided to attend the Dawn Services this year on ANZAC day, being one of my first ANZAC days in Australia I was truly moved.

Its great to see the emphasis and remembrance offered to those lost while making the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

The service men all dressed up, the older respected generation of our country in full uniform as well as the service men that serve us daily.

I can truly say that Australia is one of the best countries in the world, and we would not be as privileged to live here if it was not for the relentless work of these men and women.

Often as photographers we forget that we need to show our customers what we can do, its not enough to accept that customers will look at your current work and assume that because your a professional photographer that you will be able to shoot another “type” of photography.

With that said I decided to take the time and evaluate my portfolio. I noticed most of my artwork being displayed was in Studio. Which lead me to believe that I may be missing out on customers that are looking for Outdoor photography.

So I decided that I would take a drive into the Adelaide hills and get some outdoor photographs.

Below is the fruits of my labour. Im pretty happy with how most of them have come out and I tried to show case some different effects. I hope you like them.
